Wellbeing Modality – Jin Shin Acupressure

Jin Shin Acupressure is a form of bodywork similar to acupuncture without the needles.  It is based on the ancient Japanese and Chinese Practices of the flow of Qi (energy) through discrete channels or meridians which traverse the body similar but not identical to the nervous, lymphatic, or blood circulatory systems.  Jin Shin regulates the flow of Qi, shunting it to those areas where is deficient and draining it from where it is in excess. Jin Shin regulates and restores the harmonious energetic balance of the body.

Jin Shin is a gentle laying of the hands at certain points (acupoints) on the body to release blockages in the body’s energy flows.  The body’s energy system maintains the balance of the flow of the life force (Qi) to every cell and every function of the human experience; body, mind, and spirit.

A Jin Shin Treatment by a practitioner lasts 20-60 minutes following discerning what flows/points the body needs balanced by reading pulses similar to an acupuncturist.  Also, what the individual shares are there concerns for the treatment.  Then a series of acupoints is held in sequence on the body with a very gentle touch.

In addition, since the process involves gently holding a series of acupressure points, further wellbeing can be enhanced by the individual doing “homework”.  The homework involves holding identified points on a daily basis to encourage continuous harmonious flow of Qi within the body.

As a practitioner and instructor of Jin Shin Acupressure I am available to provide treatments and instruction for self-care.  Let me know if this is a modality for wellbeing you would like to explore further.
